BEGINNERS CHEESE MAKING CLASS
Join an intimate gathering of curious creators for a hands-on introduction to the ancient and alchemical art of cheese-making. Led by fermentation enthusiast and microbe medium Yoshua Greenfield, the class offers a mindful, easeful, and meditative approach to making cheese. You'll leave feeling confident in crafting your own cheese at home, making for a great addition to your fresh slice of sourdough!
Yoshua has taught hundreds of people how to making food fun and easy at home- from sourdough, to ferments, to meat curing. You’ll learn how to make delicious cheeses like goat chèvre and fresh farm cheese! Gaining foundational knowledge that opens the door to a lifetime of creative dairy exploration.
Cheese-making, like all fermentation, is part science, part magic and once you understand the process, it becomes a meditative, nourishing ritual you can return to again and again. Yoshua will demystify the steps, help you tune into your senses, and guide you to work with the ingredients, not against them.
At our homestead, we have hilarious goats that we milk. Goat milk is said to be the best milk to drink, especially for those that have lactose issues. We will be making cheese with our raw goat milk as well as working with raw cow’s milk from a local farm.
This class offers more than just a recipe, its an invitation into the wonder and simplicity of transforming milk into cheese.

Previous Testimonials For Various Classes
“The sourdough class with Yoshua was by far one of the best hands-on workshops I've ever been to (and definitely the most delicious). I appreciated how we walked through each major phase of the sourdough process in the course of 90 minutes, because of the preparation that Yosh had done in advance. I was able to ask all of my questions, while getting hands-on experience with the parts that felt the most intimidating. Not only did we learn the science (and art) of sourdough but my mind has been opened to the wider world of fermentation and I've already begun creating a 'project-based' kitchen with many of the lessons learned. The workshop culminated in the most unbelievably tasty spread of warm sourdough and many other fermented goodies, nourishing conversations and considering the larger (slightly existential) wisdom of the fermentation process. As Yoshua said right out the gate, "fermentation is simply creating the conditions for transformation to arise." So basically, we are now alchemists and life is much tastier. Thank you, Yoshua and Aja for an amazing experience. “

“You were incredibly right about the process. You can’t really mess it up. Letting go of control and precision and outcome… there is no right way. Bread is like life. It’s just effort and being in what you’re attempting to create. I’ve been in a real block lately on my next steps in life. Most abstract way, but I see now why we block and ultimately sabotage ourselves”

Yoshua's Beginner Sourdough Class was a hit for me and my daughters. We homeschool and thought it would be fun to learn this skill together. We are so glad we did. Yoshua made it so easy with a fun hands on experience and showing us how hard it is to get it wrong. We really appreciated his transmission of this ancient skill and the amazing food his wife and he shared with us at the end of the class. We are now successfully making our own sourdough bread every week and it tastes delicious. Thank you Yoshua!!
